Are we a nation that cares that little?
While having dinner last night with my roommate, he started talking about gamey meats. I can't stand lamb, but he loves it. I bailed with some lame excuse about it being cruel to eat babies (rabbit reference) and how I always buy free-range and steroid free shit. That's not always true and he knows it because he goes grocery shopping with me. Anyhow, are we a nation that cares that little? By this, I mean, we aren't grateful when things make sacrifices for us. We're fine with paying 20 cents less to buy eggs from a chicken locked up in a tiny cage it's whole life. We're fine shopping at Walmart and taking away from the salaries and health care benefits of its employees so that we can save a few bucks. Nobody really gives a fuck when we hear about another American soldier who got popped by a middle-eastern national/radical. Some argue that we're de-sensitizedto it. Did anyone really care about the first solder who was killed? Why aren't we eliciting the same response as Vietnam? Now here's the popper. Why did everyone get so fired up and teary-eyed about some bad aramaic translation depicting the so-called passion (serious ass-whooping). Eh, I don't really care. I guess nobody really gives a fuck.
